1. Nature of This Service
Lancaster Residents Directory is a privately operated reference. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections relevant to Lancaster, New York. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with a government office, court, library, or records custodian.
2. Permitted Use
Use this service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it, or material reached through it, to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm a person
- Find someone protected by a restraining or protective order
- Carry out identity theft or fraud
- Make an FCRA-regulated decision involving credit, employment, tenant screening, or insurance
- Scrape, copy, or republish the service’s content at scale
- Disrupt the security or ordinary operation of the service
3. No Consumer Reporting Service
Lancaster Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. §1681 et seq. Nothing on this service, or returned by a linked search tool, is a consumer report. It may not be used to determine eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-covered purpose.
4. External Services
Government portals, outside services, and sponsored search tools maintain their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control their material, availability, fees, or data handling.
5. No Warranties
The service is offered “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any type. We do not promise that content is complete, accurate, or current, or that an external portal will work or produce an accurate result.
6. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or related damages arising from use of this service or a linked resource, including a decision based on a record found through it.
7. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that results from misuse of the service or a violation of these terms.
8. Intellectual Property
The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Links to pages and brief attributed quotations are welcome. Republishing full pages or systematically copying the service’s content is not permitted.
9. Term Updates
We may publish an updated version of these terms on this page. Continued use after that publication means acceptance of the revised terms.
10. Access Restrictions
We may limit or block access, without notice, when a user violates these terms or abuses the service.
11. New York Law
These terms are governed by New York law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, §§84-90, governs access to many government records but does not make Lancaster Residents Directory a government custodian. Vital-record access is separately limited by Public Health Law §§4173-4174 and 10 NYCRR §35.5.
12. Severability
If a provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
